A horizon in every direction
The approaching umbra is visible as a wall of shadow crossing the water. From a coastline you see part of it. From open water you see it arrive.
Totality at sea
A private vessel. A position chosen in advance. Four minutes and thirty-four seconds beneath the Moon’s shadow, with an unbroken horizon in every direction.
On land you share the morning with everyone else who came. At sea you choose your own position, you can move, and the horizon is uninterrupted — which matters more than most people expect, because much of what makes totality extraordinary happens at the edges of the sky rather than overhead.
Until totality
Totality is happening now
Eye protection may be removed only while the Sun is completely covered.
The shadow has passed
The total solar eclipse of 2 August 2027 has taken place. Thank you to everyone who joined us in Melilla.
Counting to 10:48 CEST on 2 August 2027, the moment totality begins over Melilla.
The approaching umbra is visible as a wall of shadow crossing the water. From a coastline you see part of it. From open water you see it arrive.
A vessel is not fixed to a viewpoint booked in January. Within the limits of the path, the sea state and the captain’s judgement, position can be adjusted on the morning.
A private charter is private. No shared decks, no crowd noise over the moment the corona appears.
Totality at sea
All are arranged to order. None is a ticketed product, and none is held as stock.
Couples, families and private groups
A vessel chartered for your party alone, with skipper and crew, a private departure and hospitality aboard.
Executives, VIP guests and client entertainment
A larger vessel with a dedicated host, catering to a specified standard, and space for guests to talk as well as watch.
Corporate groups too large for one hull
Several vessels departing and positioning together, coordinated as a single event with consistent hospitality across all of them.
Where the requirement exceeds the above
Enquiries handled case by case, subject to vessel availability, berthing and maritime logistics.
The elements below are available to build with. What ends up on your vessel depends on its size, its crew, the charter terms and what you actually want.
Corporate charter
A total eclipse is not a venue that can be rebooked. Used well, it is the strongest hospitality asset a company will have access to in 2027 — and the water is the version of it that people describe to other people afterwards.
Designed and coordinated on request. We confirm operational capability in writing before anything is promised to your guests.
Sea-based viewing depends on conditions. We would rather set that out now than manage it on the morning.
Navigation, position and whether a vessel sails at all are the captain’s decisions, taken on the day. Safety takes priority over the itinerary, without exception.
Offshore viewing is sometimes marketed as a way to guarantee clear sky. It is not. Being able to reposition is a modest advantage, not a forecast, and we will not claim otherwise.
Conditions that are perfectly safe can still be uncomfortable for some guests. We will discuss this honestly with you, particularly for corporate groups and mixed-age parties.
Every yacht arrangement we build carries a land-based fallback position, prepared in advance and included, in case a vessel cannot sail.
Protection may be removed only during totality itself, while the Sun’s disc is completely covered — and must be replaced the moment the first sliver of the photosphere returns. Guests on our programmes are issued certified viewers and briefed the day before, and a member of the team calls the start and end of totality aloud.
Note that ISO publishes the standard but does not certify products, so “ISO certified” printed on a viewer means nothing in itself. We source only from suppliers on the American Astronomical Society’s list of manufacturers whose products have been tested by accredited laboratories.
We do not own a fleet and we do not list vessels we have not secured. Charters are arranged with operators for your dates, and confirmed to you only once they are contracted.
Private yacht arrangements are available on request and remain subject to vessel availability, maritime conditions, port and marina operations, and applicable regulations. Nothing on this page constitutes a confirmed booking.
Yes. Vessels position and hold station rather than cruising during totality, and totality lasts four and a half minutes — long enough to watch it without hurry. For photography, a larger hull is steadier; we will advise on this when we know what you want to record.
The captain decides whether the vessel sails. If it cannot, your group moves to the land-based position that is prepared for every yacht arrangement we build. If a charter is cancelled by the operator, charter terms determine what is refunded, and we set those terms out in writing before you commit.
As early as you can. Suitable vessels within reach of Melilla for that specific morning are a small and fixed pool, and they are being approached now.
Yes — certified ISO 12312-2 solar viewers for every guest aboard, sourced from suppliers whose products have been laboratory-tested, plus a briefing the day before and a called start and end to totality.
Usually, within what the operator permits and what maritime regulations allow. We confirm what is possible for your specific vessel before it forms part of a proposal.
Yes. Mixed arrangements are common: part of a group at sea, part at a reserved land position, everyone together for lunch afterwards.
Tell us your dates, your group and what you want the morning to feel like. We will tell you what is genuinely possible.
Enquiry
Six short sections. Nothing here commits you to anything, and we will not add you to a mailing list.
A member of the team will reply personally, in writing, usually within one business day. If your dates are tight or your group is large, say so in a reply and we will move faster.
